Full Day Trip To Essaouira City

Your day trip from Marrakech to Essaouira will begin by heading through the plain of Hauz to the village of Chichahua, where you can stop for a coffee before heading to Sidi Mokhtar. Along the way, you will pass through a forest of argan trees, where you will see goats climbing the argan trees. Learn how argan oil (also known as liquid gold or argan oil) is extracted, visit a local women’s cooperative, and see how rich argan oil is used locally to create exquisite cosmetics.

From experience we can say that it is easy to explore Essaouira in your own way: The inhabitants are very friendly, the medina is small (compared to other old Moroccan cities) and its streets are made for. You certainly don’t need a guide to visit the city. If you insist on having one, your driver will help you hire a local guide.

In Essaouira, you will visit the old Portuguese Kasbah Secala, from where you will explore the port and see fishermen selling fresh fish and seafood from their boats. You will then enter the old medina through the famous Place Moulay Hassan, explore the narrow streets and visit the many art galleries. Afterward, enjoy a fish lunch at a local restaurant or return to port to pick fresh fish and cook it at a small local restaurant.

At the end of the afternoon, return to Marrakech, end of the day in Essaouira, and return to the hotel or riad.
